Sunday's Breakfast

5.06.2014

I'm doing a "cleanse" up until the wedding, an anti inflammatory one.  Eating healthy has always been a habit of mine, but this amps it up a lot.  I'm not doing it to lose weight...  I always get that reaction, "You! Diet?", when I tell people I'm trying to eat better.  Honestly, I have struggled with acne for a handful of years now, and I'm ready to try anything to not to be a major zit face on the big day.  So far it is really doing the trick!  Some of my deep bumps have gone down, no new big ones have come up, and my redness has faded.

The above picture is one of my favorites.  For breakfast or dessert I throw together some Chobani Greek Yogurt and berries.  Greek Yogurt is my new love!  It has way less sugar than regular plain yogurt, twice the protein, and has an awesome whipped texture.

Stormy Canning Day

11.03.2013

Canning day was a huge success!  We were a little worried because it was stormy and the lights were flickering in the beginning, but the power held for us thankfully.  Lindsey (my awesome future sister-in-law, friend, and amazing cook) and I made 19 jars of salsa and 8 jars of apple butter.  Both were so delicious.  We found time to make some chocolate chip pumpkin bread too.  Lane came home from Florida in the evening and was so excited about all the food.  For dinner, Lin made butternut squash risotto with bacon and sage, yum.  We ate entirely too much, watched The Great Gatsby, and headed off to enjoy a nice food coma.  Successful Saturday, I have to say!

Sunny Summer Dinner

7.17.2013

I have really fallen in love with our juicer.

Celery
Carrots
Cucumber
Oranges
Apples
Beets
Ginger

I got some salad from my local farmer.

Almonds
Tomatoes
Sesame Seeds
Red Wine Vinaigrette

I also made some home made energy bars for the week...

Click here for the recipe.  I used all organic options where I could, and sugar in the raw instead of brown sugar.

Of course, Doobie and Anarah supervised, and kept watch. ;)
